Completed & Ongoing Projects

The following are two major construction and rehabilitation projects that the Friends of Oakdale Heritage have completed for the Oakdale Museum and History Center. We are pleased with the result and we hope you will be too.

Oakdale Museum Restoration
Getting Started

As with any serious project, things can get messy before they start improving. We discovered 3 layers of wallpaper! It was a bigger job than expected.

Removing Exhibits
Removing Displays
But in order to take on a large project, the current displays had to be taken down and removed from the Dining Room.

Smooth Surfaces

Holes patched, primed and painted. Floors stripped, buffed, and sealed.  A smooth “blank slate” emerges. Clean, bright and refreshing!

Holes in the Wall
Unexpected Discoveries

We found two holes leading to nowhere with absolutely no explanations for why they exist!

Research Room Completed

Custom cabinetry houses over 250 bound copies of the local newspapers dating back to 1883, along with city accession records, directories, ledgers, OHS yearbooks, and elementary school photos. All of which are available to the public.

Amazing Transformation
The work is done, the mess cleaned up, and displays are back in place. A fresh and inviting space to begin conversations and share memories.
